Submit for your movies for the 13TH ANNUAL 90-Second Newbery Film Festival! General deadline January 26, 2024.

The 90-Second Newbery Film Festival is an annual video contest in which young filmmakers create movies that tell the entire stories of Newbery-winning books in about 90 seconds. We are now in our thirteenth year!

Wondering what it’s all about? Check out the video above, a 90-second version of Madeleine L’Engle’s 1963 Newbery Medal winner, A Wrinkle in Time. You can watch this and many more of the most popular 90-Second Newbery videos here.

For twelve years, we’ve featured the best submissions at raucous annual screenings in New York City, Chicago, San Francisco, Boston, Minneapolis, San Antonio, Salt Lake City, Tacoma WA, Rochester NY, Oakland CA, Ogden UT, Salem OR, Boulder CO, Trenton NJ, and other cities—co-hosted by founder James Kennedy (author of the YA fantasy The Order of Odd-Fish and more) and other award-winning children’s authors.
